What a busy Saturday....

Well, Kory and his band decided they were going to record this weekend in our basement so they could get their Halloween song recorded for The Anderson Halloween Party... or is it Kelli's Halloween Party? I never know who to give credit...
Anyway, since Kory's day was pretty much tied up with all that that entails (don't worry that is a post to come) I spent the day mostly working on my "Honey Do list" that I have not had time to do since we moved in.
Naturally my list was much much MUCH longer than I actually got done, but I still felt so good that I got the projects that have been on the back burner for so long finally done.

The first project was the Key holder, yeah nothing fancy really just a place to hold our keys.
Those of my readers who have been with me since the start, will remember my trip to the fabulous city of Pinedale WY. If you all remember while I was stuck in a motel for 5 days I started to make magazine holders. Well, they are finally finished! The reason it took me so long is because I haven't really had a use for them until recently since we moved our stuff back into our family room.

I made 10 of them, and it took a long time, even though it looks like it didn't, it did.

For the cover I used 3 full pieces of 12 x 12 paper, and two 12 inch pieces of ribbon. I really like how they all look next to each other. But let me know what you think?

Here are all 10
This is what they look like from the side. I decided to not put all 10 of them on here. you get the idea with one, if you really want to see the rest I will post them. But I am too tired tonight. This is where they ended up on the shelves.

I had plans to work on our Halloween decor as well, but ended up not being able to find Jute, so if anyone knows where I can find Jute, let me know. Roberts no longer carries it.

Very crafty. I don't think I've ever heard of Jute, so no help there. I'm always impressed with other's abilities to make regular stuff, cute. Because for me, all my regular stuff is just...regular. My key holder is wherever they get thrown down. Honestly, it's not that honed of a system. Also, I always wonder about the use of magazine holders....they look great, don't get me wrong. But are you one of those ladies that make their own magazine libraries? Because I can't do that. After about three months, they are all trashed, and I can't make myself hold onto them. Unless, is it just church magazines? I know people hold onto those forever. Maybe that sounds bad, but I'm just honestly curious. Maybe "magazine holders" is just another name for something else. I've never been too quick on the uptake.

Oh and that's crafty in a good way not in the bad witchy kind of way!

Kory saves ALL his recording and music magazines. He pretty much treats them like books. And since Magazine writing and editing was my major I keep them around primarily because I like them, and you can learn a lot about magazine articles by dissecting them, so I keep them around for that. It really is just my way of keeping them organized around our house, and not having to look at all the tiny titles of hundreds of magazines, those make me feel cluttered. I also use one in our bookshelf for stray papers and folders. I guess its my way of looking more organized than I really am.
We also save our church magazines as well, I am not sure why because I usually use the internet to look up past articles. But throwing them away seems wrong.
Does that make sense?

Jute is that brown thick yarn like stuff they use on many many crafts. Almost like Hemp but thicker. You see it more on the fall crafts.

Oh and Ashley used it to hold up Karen's onesie's at the shower if that helps you know what it is.

I save my magazines because they have articles that show you how to do stuff, like in recording or guitar. It's a lot of information, so when I need help with something I'm trying to mix or play, they're there.

ahhh. Okay, makes sense now. Thanks for the information. I guess Jeff would save all his Entertainment Weeklys if I let him. (Not the same, I know), but I would go in sane if he did. I guess if I had some interest in it as well, or if it was something job related, it would be a completely different story.

Very cute! I love the magazine holders and they look great on the shelf. Good work.
On magazines, I get all these medical journals in the mail and John makes me throw them away. I always think that maybe one day I'll read them, but he knows better. On church magazines, we always keep general conference issues then toss the rest after a few months!

You are SO creative! :)
I have wanted a key holder forever, but I'm just not creatively inclined and feel sooooo busy all the time! We need to go out to dinner (Sky is convinced that since you watched the cats, then we're just going to go out together)......... So let me know if ya'll are free anytime this weekend!

p.s. No disneyland post yet! We used Sky's parent's camera during the trip and so until I get over there and download it to my laptop, no pictures :( sad day!
