you don't know how useful your shoulder is

....until you can't use it anymore ...

Well folks, I am learning yet another lesson on the importance of my body parts that I take for granted.

Turns out that little mishap on the water weenie did a number on my shoulder. I went to the doctor on Tuesday and had an X-ray done on my shoulder, and at first I felt dumb for even coming in to the doctor, because he did all these tests, and kept asking me "does this hurt" and I would say "no" and then he would say "How about this" and I would say " well no, but it REALLY only hurts right here." So while I was waiting for my results from the X-ray I felt like I just not only wasted all my time (an hour and a half thank you very much, where an hour of that I spent in the FREEZING cold room) but I also wasted our money.

Anyway the doctor comes back in carrying a sling and all these papers. And tells me I have all this inflammation in my shoulder where it looks like there is muscle and tissue damage and he wants me to keep this sling on it 24 hours a day for 10 days, take a pill each day and go to 8 sessions of physical therapy.
So I was glad that it was nothing too serious, but now I have to deal with this sling on my arm for 10 days! I have already been wearing it for 2 1/2 days and I am seeing NO results.

Anyway that is what is new with me, but I do feel like it looks worse then it is, except that it hurts like H-E-double hockey sticks to straighten it, so maybe if I follow my doctors orders, I will be back to my usual, swimming, dancing, crafting self again, but for now, ALL those things have to be put on hold :(

What a bummer! Kenny was out once for a whole summer over a finger. One. stupid. index. finger. So I can imagine how awful it is not having a whole arm. Take it easy (and try to enjoy the "time off").

It's funny how you don't notice how important something is till you can't use it. When Bry broke his hand I had to do so many things for him that you wouldn't think about.

That totally sucks...I'm sorry! Hopefully the 10 days will go by fast!

Saw you tonight with the offending sling. Sorry, I didn't know you'd gotten injured. I'm supposing that it's pretty bad with all your swimming lessons and all that stuff. Total suckage. :(

you flipped those pictures, because it was on your other arm last night, unless you're just a big faker and you switched arms...

I think it's flipped because it was mirrored from my computer...Notice my wedding ring? its my left arm, and I am not a faker....I am a bit offended ...

funny... it is actually feeling much better today, I may even ditch physical therapy.

Don't skip physical therapy. If there is one thing I learned during my orthopedics rotation, it would be how amazing and important physical therapy is. So go to all your sessions until they "release" you.
Sorry you hurt your shoulder. That sucks... But I'm glad you are feeling better!
