the numbers are in

Axel had his two week checkup last Monday, and is making great progress! YIPPEE

He is pretty much in the 10th percentile for everything: height, weight and head circumference.

When we left the hospital he was 5 lbs 11 oz. Yesterday he weighed in at 6 lbs 12 oz! and is now 19.5 inches long.

So over a pound heavier and an inch and a half longer! Good work baby boy!

He is still tiny but making great progress. It was a huge relief for me to hear he was gaining weight, because as a breastfeeding mom that was one of my biggest worries that he wasn't getting enough milk from me. And really the only indicator that you are providing them with enough nutrition is if they are gaining weight. SO I had to just wait to find out. It was a little stressful. But I am more at ease now about the whole thing.

We also opted to have him circumcised at this appointment. (we would have done it sooner but they have to wait with preemies) Kory went with Axel, and I went into the waiting room and read a magazine. I was so grateful to have Kory there and willing to stay by his side. I don't think I could have done it without totally losing it. ( I can't even watch the vet examine my dog with out crying) But from what Kory said Axel was tough, and only cried when they were cleaning.

But don't you worry I am the one who had the privilege of changing the first diaper after, and that was the worst! Needless to say we both ended up in tears by the end. But after the 4th day it was looking pretty healed up, and now its doing great!

Here are some photos of Axel over the past two weeks! Enjoy!

After his circumcision he was pooped and slept most of the day. I went in to check on him and he had both of his hands covering his face like he was so exhausted.
First sponge bath! he didn't like it so much. He hates being undressed and cold.

His eys open :)

More post to come... Billy Baby

You're blog said you posted at 10:30 this morning and my clock says it's 10:08 this morning. That's kind of creepy. Me and Kass were just talking about how we hadn't seen Axel in forever. I'm glad he's doing well!

He is such a cutey - i'm glad he's put on weight! I would be so scared to mess with down there - it's a good thing Kory was able to take care of it!

Poor Axel. :( I remember how stressed I was about Cole healing and stuff. And I think just the fact that they are so tiny and reliant on you to make them feel better is even more of a heartache. I'm glad he's doing better. And I'm so glad he's getting bigger! I'm still kind of shocked that he's only almost seven pounds, but he's going to bulk up a lot. I just have very large, fat babies, so they're probably that weight like, two months before they're born. ;)
