Down in the Dark

As promised here are the events of Kory's recording session.

Now, you have to understand something about our basement. Its a dungeon right now, and it is primarily just for storage. We haven't started on the remodel, but Kory needed to record a song for Kelli's Halloween party, so on Saturday afternoon he, Kyle and Nick (Brandon) made due with our smelly basement and actually did a pretty good job. I was upstairs and all I could her was the compressor going, and lots of boyish giggles. When I went down stairs to see what they had done, i was shocked to see walls covered in carpet held up by 2x4's! So creative...

What a busy Saturday....

Well, Kory and his band decided they were going to record this weekend in our basement so they could get their Halloween song recorded for The Anderson Halloween Party... or is it Kelli's Halloween Party? I never know who to give credit...
Anyway, since Kory's day was pretty much tied up with all that that entails (don't worry that is a post to come) I spent the day mostly working on my "Honey Do list" that I have not had time to do since we moved in.
Naturally my list was much much MUCH longer than I actually got done, but I still felt so good that I got the projects that have been on the back burner for so long finally done.

The first project was the Key holder, yeah nothing fancy really just a place to hold our keys.
Those of my readers who have been with me since the start, will remember my trip to the fabulous city of Pinedale WY. If you all remember while I was stuck in a motel for 5 days I started to make magazine holders. Well, they are finally finished! The reason it took me so long is because I haven't really had a use for them until recently since we moved our stuff back into our family room.

I made 10 of them, and it took a long time, even though it looks like it didn't, it did.

For the cover I used 3 full pieces of 12 x 12 paper, and two 12 inch pieces of ribbon. I really like how they all look next to each other. But let me know what you think?

This is what they look like from the side. I decided to not put all 10 of them on here. you get the idea with one, if you really want to see the rest I will post them. But I am too tired tonight. This is where they ended up on the shelves.

I had plans to work on our Halloween decor as well, but ended up not being able to find Jute, so if anyone knows where I can find Jute, let me know. Roberts no longer carries it.

Pear Jam

I have found a new favorite food. PEAR JAM! Introduced to me by my mother in law, which she made and canned herself, and it is to die for. And I am not just saying that.

She made it with agave nectar so Kory can eat it, and it is YUMMY. I would say you are all welcome to come over to my house and try it, but I wont share. And I think Kory will cut anyone's throat if they tried to take any of it. (you think I am joking, but when it comes to Kory's food, it is no joking matter)

But seriously folks it is scrumptious, really no other jam can compete. I just wish I would have known about this precious gem earlier, so I could have canned a year supply, because these bottles are going FAST!

let me point out something

Everyone has been giving me credit for the ROCKING Baby Shower given to Kassie this weekend. However, let me clear up a few things...I only did the invites and the decorations (which only consisted of a table cloth, a sign and 24 balloons) As for the rest, that was ALL Kelli, I can't take the credit, and feel as if I am stealing her thunder slightly. My part was small, and I shouldn't get the credit. She put a lot of hard work into the shower, and it turned out really well. If you want to say things like Amy did such a great job on making sure the table cloth was on straight, I can take credit for that. Or wow! These balloons are breathtaking, did you blow them up yourself? Which I would respond, no I did not. But I did however order them AND pick them up. Both very exhausting tasks... I just think Kelli deserves the credit.

Sunday September 28, 2008: HAPPY BIRTHDAY KORY

We went to one of the wards Kory served in as a Missionary. We have visited this ward a couple of times, and are always treated like celebrities. It was sort of awkward sometimes for me...

We had dinner with Don, and went and visited Don's old room mate and his wife, they have chihuahuas as well, but they did not like us at all. It gave me a tiny glimpse of how others feel when my dog is yapping at them when they come over or walk past our house.

We got up early so we could go visit a couple more places before we headed home.
The first place was FATBURGER, if you have never eaten there, you need to try it. Now, we have eaten at ones in LA and ones in Seattle. The ones in Seattle are much much nicer than the LA but it is still good food.

Seriously, doesn't that just make your mouth water?
After fat burger we went to this amazing waterfall. It was the biggest waterfall I had ever seen in my life!

After this we got in the car for a LONG drive home

Even though our trip had ended, Kory had at least one more day of celebrating to do. So, very last minute we invited some folks over for cake and ice cream (I don't like doing this by ourselves)
For those of you who didn't know about it or hear about it, I did try to get a hold of you, I literally sent texts to everyone in the family the morning of, or rather the afternoon of. So sorry if you feel like we snubbed you, that was not my intention at all. I should have planned ahead, sent out an email, but like I said, totally last minute. Thanks to everyone who did come, it meant a lot to Kory.
